Biography

Throughout his career, Jorge Suárez has participated in international festivals such as the Rutesheim Cello Festival Akademie, Festival Academy Budapest, Allegro Vivo Musik Festival Austria, or Festival Peregrinos Musicales. He has been recognized in several competitions, including the Concurso Internacional Soncello, Concurso “Ciudad de Vigo,” and Concurso Festival Peregrinos Musicales, where he received the Best Galician Performer Award 2023.

Professionally, he has collaborated with different orchestras and ensembles, including the Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla y León, Munich Classical Players, Ensemble Soncello, and Orquesta Filarmonía de Madrid. As a soloist, he has performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica ESMAR and the Orquesta de Cámara de Tui, and he demonstrates a strong commitment to contemporary music by working with composers such as Karolis Biveinis, Paulino Pereiro, and Lukas Schepp.

Jorge has a solid academic background and an internationally recognized career. He began his studies at the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Vigo, where he completed a professional degree in both cello and saxophone. He then pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Madrid under the guidance of María Casado and further honed his chamber music skills through his work with the renowned Cuarteto Casals. Currently, he is advancing his interpretative abilities at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, studying with the renowned cellist  László Fenyö.

Jorge performs on a Lorenzo Ventapane cello from 1815, on loan from the Baden-Württemberg Streichinstrumente Landessammlung.
